PostSubject: Second Lesson: Major Arcana April 24th   Second Lesson: Major Arcana April 24th EmptySat Apr 25, 2009 1:42 pm

#11 Justice symbolizes rules, balance, harmony, and fairness in our lives. She represents the choices that we make in our life that are fair and just with being honest, respectful and loyal. Its like weighing your choices between the sword and the scales.

Justice is connected to Libra. We are constantly trying to connect the present to the future, and the past, by admiring old traditions, cultures and the family. Whenever the scales are imbalanced, we want to balance them. We seek the yin within the yang, and enjoy playing devil's advocate--as long as we are still accepted. Never do we want to start an argument, but achieve balance and harmony through the sense of knowing that there is always another side. This gives us an ability to recognize wisdom, and to present peace when others are busy fighting.

The Negative side of Justice is imbalance, coldness, and a destructive streak, which leads to detachment and karma, and in the end impeding our relationships because we broke the rules. There is a price to pay.

#12 The Hanged Man is about letting go and giving up, as painful as this may seem, it is necessary so that we can overcome restrictions and find what we are really looking for instead of sacrificing ourselves, and not living for the present. If we stay in the past, that is what we receive. If we do not let go , we live in sacrifice.

The Hanged Man is connected to the planet Neptune which describes our creativity, sensitiveness, love, intuition, illusions and deceptions. Harmonious Neptune aspects arouse our love, creativity, intuition, and spiritual growth. Inharmonious aspects excite anxiety and fear, increase bad habits. There are times when we fall under somebody's influence that are related to illusions and deceptions.

The Negative side of The Hanged Man is letting go and not caring about the situation anymore, and this can be a negative aspect or a positive one depending on the situation.

#13 Death is about transformation, separation, loss, the ending of a cycle, a new re-birth and renewal. A transition to a new path. The experience can be saddening or painful, but we must accept that there are endings.

Death is connected to Scorpio. Above all, the Scorpio represents the Phoenix, that ancient symbol of death and resurrection from the ashes of youth, that fire that never dies but merely rises above and continues to change into something else. An argument is not merely an argument to a Scorpio, nor is it a chance to butt heads, but rather an experience of expressing and listening so that both participants can "rise above" and come out in a better position than when they began.

For the Scorpio, there is no in-between--life is many times a matter of life and death, black and white, devil vs. angel, etc. They don't know the meaning of indifference, and tend to be either your friend or your enemy. There is no shade of gray. Once you've gained the trust of a Scorpio, you've won him forever--unless you hurt him in some way. Then he can become mean, vindictive, and will attempt to get even.

The Negative side of Death is depression due to neglecting that the cycle has come to an end, not accepting the break up, being obsessed and staying in stagnation.

#14 Temperance is about moderation, healing, and concentration. The Angel with her feet in two different worlds trying to find her balance. She is looking for the middle ground, achieving healing and recovery.

Temperance is connected to Sagittarius which represents challenge, inquiry, a fascination with the world, and a passion for variety, change, and a freedom to pursue his or her interests. A typical Sagittarian has a compulsion to set goals, but doesn't always complete them. He or she is looking to the future, and has an enthusiasm and optimism that at times needs to be controlled. His worst fault is restlessness. His biggest strength is meeting challenges.

The Negative side of Temperance are indecision, inconstancy, excess, obsession, and lack of control and not being able to heal, and not finding her balance. Staying stuck in two worlds because of her restlessness.

#15 The Hermit is looking for the light on his situation, he is in crisis and isolation. He is searching for answers and trying to connect with his higher self to show him the way. He feels that it is through isolation that he will find his answers.

The Hermit is connected to Virgo. Sometimes modest, and quite often shy, Virgo can be one of the most difficult mates to "land". It is not that they are playing hard to get, it's not that they are not interested, it's the shyness. Oddly, the more they like you, the more shy they behave around you!

They have a very keen and sharp intellect. They are methodical and extremely precise. Slow to make moves, as they analyze their knowledge, as to apply it usefully. They are practical and imaginative and develop skills that enable them to improve their being.

The Virgo likes to analyze things and are not comfortable until they figure out all angles of the problem they currently are focused on.

The Negative side of The Hermit are excessive isolation, lack of communication, intolerance, crisis and doubt.

#16 The Tower is about a sudden change that shocks us. With Mars as its ruling planet, the Tower is a card about war, a war between the structures of lies and the lightning flash of truth. The Tower stands for "false concepts and institutions that we take for real." We can expect to be shaken up, to be blinded by a shocking revelation. It sometimes takes that to see a truth that one refuses to see. Or to bring down beliefs that are so well constructed. What's most important to remember is that the tearing down of this structure, however painful, makes room for something new to be built.

The Tower is connected to the planet Mars. Mars lights a fire under our passions, and then propels us like an ignited rocket toward our goals. This is an important energy, since it determines how we pursue what we want to achieve in life. These flashpoints burn a path toward what is possible, if we follow them.

Mars is like the volcano of vitality inside you that must be released and channeled. Mars lights up when you become filled with desire, and this guides you toward your destiny. It influences aspects of character related to action, like endurance, persistence, and discipline.

The Negative side of The Tower is that you are not accepting that there is change, so you will remain stagnated in the path that you are on.

#17 The Star is one of the very positive cards in the tarot deck. The star is the symbol of our faith in the future that we are being led home. We feel guided on our path by its calm and serene light. The Star is a sense of hope and faith and a promise of protection to achieve a dream that we are on the right path.

The Star is connected to Aquarius. The Aquarius person tends to be hard to define in personality as it frequently changes. One moment an Aquarian is expressive, interesting and active and can unexplainably become very moody and uncaring. Their serious side tends to stir to moodiness.

The Aquarian is very independent in their thinking, friendly by nature, original and creative thinking, friendly humanitarians who are typically rational, loyal and idealistic. They tend to be very willing and highly inventive. Aquarians, when you meet them seem to be remarkable people. They display good manners. Their charming and tend to make an overall good impression however they can also become very obstinate and self-willed. They tend to have a great sense of adventure about them. Aquarians tend be extremely sensitive and therefore get their feelings hurt a lot. They may show a temper ranging from hurt feelings to extreme anger although this is usually short lived..

The Negative side of the Star is an unfavorable situation . A monkey wrench of obstacles in our way to achieving a dream, or it could be the inability to accept a helping hand, thus leading to possible failure.

#18 The Moon in all its phases represents the world of dreams, illusions, and the subconscious. The Moon is an ambivalent card, and it signifies the difficulty to see things clearly. Fluctuating moods of uncertainty, and that we must pay attention to our dreams , confront our subconscious and deal with the issues that come to the surface in order to progress to a higher level of awareness.

The Moon is connected to Pisces. Pisces can be so dreamy as to seem "somewhere else" half the time. They're tuned into the spiritual side of things, and this gives them an otherworldly air. It can seem that they're always sensing the emotional currents that run between people, as well as those connecting us to the great beyond.

The Pisces Sun leads with a compassionate heart, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Many are remarkably wise and self-sacrificing when it comes to helping the vulnerable or those down on their luck. But this noble trait can take them down a path of being used and abused before they learn to set strong boundaries.

The Negative side of the Moon is confusion. We are unable to think clearly about a situation, and this can cause us to fail at seeing a situation.

#19 The Sun is such a positive tarot card. It brings energy, warmth, good health, self confidence and success. It is our Masculine energy and our source of light, warmth, and the Sun banishes the darkness so that we may see our path clearly and be enlightened within, meaning that we can see the truth and understand. This card represents energy from a higher source with health, virility, opportunities, generosity, self confidence, success, marriage, children and wealth. A very positive card. Our power comes from the Sun, so the Sun is the cosmic father inside of ourselves.

The Sun is connected to the Sun and Our Sun Signs that determine our basic personalities, in all their strengths and limitations. While we cannot escape our basic instincts as determined by our Sun Signs, we can exercise free will -- we can decide how to meet our own limitations and deal with them.

Sun- represents our actual identity, ways of self-expression, from what place we draw our creativity. The sun is most important in our lives after we discover our "true selves" and understand who we are. It reflects our inner being, our psyche, and who we are destined to be.

The Negative side of the Sun is that we need to be aware of negative energies, and be aware of false appearances that can induce failure and uncertainty.

#20 Judgement is about the awakening call. One cycle is ending and another is starting. As one cycle is ending , we need to prepare for a new stage in our development, the future is waiting for us. And this card reminds us that through honesty and true reflection we can realize were we have made our errors and forgive ourselves to regain our self worth and see our accomplishments.

Judgement is connected to the planet Pluto. Pluto, the lord of the underworld, symbolizes the forces of deep transformation in our lives. Pluto rules intense energy, signifying the areas in which we consciously or subconsciously seek to exercise power or control. Linked to our karmic responsibility, Pluto also indicates those areas where we need to gain the deepest level of understanding.

Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio. Called "the great renewer", Pluto is considered to represent the part of a person that needs to be destroyed in order to renew. A commonly used keyword for Pluto is "transformation." Pluto is also associated with extreme power.

Pluto, the lord of the underworld, symbolizes the forces of deep transformation in our lives, often through the overcoming of determined opposition and followed by a regeneration of life, relationships and character.

The Negative aspects of this card are that we fear to let go, and have remorse, regret and an imbalance in ourselves. When we do this, we keep ourselves imprisoned to the past and this keeps us from moving on to the future. There is a new path waiting for us to discover. We are not allowing ourselves to transform and move on from old relationships, and the old character traits that we lived with and believed in.

#21 The World is about reaching your goals that you have worked so hard for. This card is considered the best card in the Major Arcana and it a symbol for all that we can accomplish on our path through life. This is where the cycle ends and a new one starts. But this time you start being happy and have a sense of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. You are ready to prepare for your journey, only this time you do it better than before. Before you get to start this new journey, you have learned that you are your own boss and that you have earned it, and you are not ready to give your power away and revisit the old mistakes and ever be humiliated again. At this stage, you have become a person with high esteem and you are very disciplined.

The World is connected to the planet Saturn. Saturn doesn't make things easy. That's the role of the taskmaster of the Zodiac. Saturn commands us to get to work and to work hard. Discipline and responsibility are important to this Planet. Saturn is a teacher, and concerns itself with karma and the lessons which past experiences might bring.

Saturn’s gift is the pressure that keeps us focused on our own path. It’s seriousness, like the sign it rules to generate more inner discipline. Saturn doesn't promise success, but by laying out the steps, and sticking to the path despite the distractions and doubts, you start to gain Saturn-approved mastery regardless of the outcome. It is the path to unshakable self-esteem.

Saturn’s influence may seem heavy and limiting, but that is the nature of the physical realm. When you toss up your hands and claim to be overwhelmed, inert, depressed, someone else has to be the authority in your life. This authority can be given to a boss, father, spouse, teacher, friend, or even a punishing voice inside your head. Once you’ve been humbled-humiliated enough, you might decide to pull yourself up and be your own boss.

The Negative side of the World is that that there is an obstacle, or a set back in the way, or we forgot to tie up all the loose ends, as well as a lack of commitment to follow through. We are not ready yet, and we still have more work to do.

Blessings,
Safina
