Destiny

An excerpt from Dream for an Insomniac:

Choices are like connecting highways. They all take you to the same place. Some just take longer to get there.


I've heard two theories about destiny. One is, it's constant, and what is meant to be will be. The other is, we create our own, it's all in our hands.

Is our life really just a series of meaningless random accidents and coincidences that we work with in order to get what we want, or is anything that happens to us really a part of a grand, predetermined plan?

For me destiny is a destination, something we're always meant to do.

Fate on the other hand is in our hands and we have the ability to choose our own fate, which is like a pit stop on the way to destiny.

So it's kinda like free will influences our fate but ultimately, no matter what choices we make in our lives, they will lead us to the same destiny? Whatever is meant to be will be?

I actually believe in this too. That destiny is destiny. There is no escaping that, and our life choices just determine how straight or convoluted our path to reaching our destiny will be. Of course, I get big time flak from friends whenever I tell them of this, in their words, "new age bull crap".

Yeah you need new friends, negativity draws you away from your destiny, and hell if one of your stupid fate paths kills you, well then you're really screwed of reaching your destiny.

I guess the moral is, don't make too many stupid decisions in life or you'll run out of life to live thus, run out of time to get to your destiny.
