Poetry Corner:

Truth is, ill words were spoken,
But not of my own token,
This battlefield lies far and wide,
With blood to spill on either side.
Some trust has thus been broken,
Your banner, tattered and unwoven,
The rage burns deep, so deep inside,
While you the king, continue to hide,
Using every one of your aides,
To save the castle and to sway,
The people forced to choose a side,
To be exiled or to die,
No options had this tattered king,
His kingdom is a fallen thing,
And who to blame, these ceaseless enemies,
With insights, ideas, guidance, trivialities,
No ally thyself with thine own mask,
See thine own mistakes of the past,
See your image in the mirror,
Truth is, could not be clearer,
Thy hate has caused the kingdom to fall,
The king to blame, worst enemy of all.

I like it.

I'm always inerested in poems that have a bit of a war/fantasy aspect to them, and this one does a good job of eliciting related imagery for me.

Do you have more poetry that you will print for us to read. We were just talking about poetry the other day at work - and why certain people write it.

Why do you write poetry? What type of mood do you generally find yourself in before writing it? Do it sit down intentionally to write one, or it is something that you see or hear that inspires you?

I actually lost all my poetry that I wrote when I was a kid, but I have been slowly stepping into the Bard's shoes and writing poetry when I need to.

I find I only write it when the fire in the head sparks it, and only when I cannot speak my words in other ways. I find it's soothing, and gets my point across with arrows and bullets, rather than long drawn out lectures.

I wrote this one because I was angry at how I was being perceived, and had to tell the other person to look at themselves, and to stop seeing me as the enemy. I hope it worked.

Written on a whim to describe how I'm feeling about a situation lately.


However brightly daylight shines
it deepens shadows left behind.
You absence becomes an empty hole
that calls to me and pulls my soul.

Wondering when you'll step on through
and if that happens, what you'll do
to me who's waited here in fear
with a strange desire to feel you near.

I know its strange and likely wrong
to await the day you come along
and torment me while in my sleep
I feel as though I'm yours to keep.

Until I see you in my dreams
my thoughts will stick along these themes.
Be wary, should you come my way
for I'm in no good mood to play.
