| Let's all share how we came across the tarot!
For me, it's kind of silly probably. I was much younger, maybe ten or so years ago, and I was still in early highschool or so; probably a bit younger than that. There was a really neat cartoon on a tv station about a girl who finds herself on another planet; in the plot she uses her tarot cards once in awhile, and I was always very interested in them and what they were like.
I started saving up my allowance and, after awhile, finally bought my first deck! Everything I learned at that time came from the book that was a part of the set, but I found that the more I used them (and I still find this) the more I started to sort of learn other, more comfortable ways of using them. My interpretations are also more easily relatable to the situation I'm reading for.
So, that's how I found out about it... I got lots of practice reading for people at my highschool and I even did an english project or two on them.
What about you? | |

| Well, when I came across tarot anything I was about 17 walking around with my parents in Las Vegas. They had a metaphysics store in the middle of a casino at the Excalibur. I looked at the cards and wondered what they are for, so I shrugged it off. I went by there again the next day and there was a psychic there, now she didn't hit anything dead on when I walked by but I looked at her table and saw the cards. I was confused and curious. So I came home at the end of the week and forgot about it til a year later when I met a psychic. She was very nice and she told me she used tarot cards. she showed me the cards and that's when I figured out what those cards were in Las Vegas! So I proceeded to ask her about them. She then explained to me how she used them and learned and everything. Then she asked me if I wanted to learn and that's when I purchased my very first tarot deck! | |

| For me it was interesting, my best friend and I had been practicing telepathy, yep, reading each other's minds, and soon she got into Tarot. She had the Elemental Tarot Deck, a super difficult deck to read, and so I decided I might get into it, and so I went down to Chapter, and picked out the Vision Tarot, which I loved, and I bought that. I pretty much just read the book, and went by what the book said, but it was a tiny book with almost no descriptions on it and so it wasn't until later on when I was 18 that I truly studied Tarot to learn the universal meanings of all the cards. | |

| My friend had a set. don't know if she uses them or anything but yeah. Then I went into the shop in my hometown and picked up a set I was drawn to. It was just a strong pull that I bought it. | |

| I don't really agree on all fronts. I see it as a matter of opinion.
Especially in terms of the Death card; yes, the change is generally unwanted, but it also depends on the person and whether or not they are willing to accept it.

| I actually agree with you Howahkan, I feel that the tarot is a tool that you can learn from, and that once your own abilities have evolved you can stop reading from it and just go with your own intuition.
I also agree with the people who just purchase a tarot deck to start forecasting for themselves and friends, thinking that somehow they're going to just awaken their abilities from learning more about symbology.
For me, people who stick with tarot, do it because it's an artform and sometimes a comfort thing, for them and the clients, you can't change what cards come up, just as people like me can't change what we see, it just happens, and that's a good thing.
